Deficiency Symptoms of Zinc & Amelioration Techniques

The deficiency symptoms appear within three weeks of sowing. The leaf suffer from interveinal chlorosis (loss of green colour) the yellowing start from the tip of leaf and moves downwards. Midrib remains green. As deficiency symptoms advance dark brown colour spot appear on the lower leaves. In case of severe deficiency plants are stunted in the growth together with shedding of leaves, young leaves are small in size. |
Soil Application: 25-30 Kg Zn Sulphate should be applied before sowing.
Foliar Application:
for spraying one hectare This is crop, dissolve 2.5 Kg. Zn followed by loss of green colour Sulphate and 10 Kg Urea (or 1.25 Kg slaked lime in 500
liters of water at-least 1 to 2 times at an interval of 7 to 14 days. |

The zinc deficiency symptoms appear on 3rd and 4th leaves. These leaves are light yellow to yellow and then develop brown colour spots with increase the severity deficiency. Zn deficient plants are stunted and produce small, thin grains. In groundnut size is kernels of reduced. Flowering & fruiting is delayed. |

Zinc deficiency symptoms appear at early stage (usually 35-40 days after germination) of sugarcane growth. The initial symptoms start as loss of green colour from the base of lower leaf which later spread upwards. The young leaves are completely choloroitic and soon develop brown patches from the tip downwards. |
